My criminal practice focuses on defense of white-collar criminal cases involving allegations of financial and securities fraud, anti-trust violations, money laundering, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and commercial fraud. I have represented corporations and individuals sued under the False Claims Act by the government and qui tam relators. My practice includes representation of witnesses before Congressional Committees and the conduct of internal investigations at corporations and other organizations. I have advocated at the Department of Justice on behalf of crime victims to encourage federal prosecutors to investigate and bring charges where warranted.
Some representative matters include:
- Represented two executives from a Japanese company in anti-trust investigation of price-fixing in the roll-on, roll-off transport industry; neither was charged
- Represented two executives from the American subsidiary of a foreign shipper during an anti-trust investigation of price-fixing and collusion in the shipping industry; neither was charged
- Represented three traders at different prime banks in connection with criminal and civil investigations into alleged manipulation of Libor and Euribor; none of them was charged
- Represented supervisory trader at international bank during investigation into alleged manipulation of foreign exchange markets; trader was not charged
- Represented Chief Accounting Officer in SEC investigation into multiple restatements of public filings;CAO not charged
- Represented president of union local during investigation into alleged criminal activities during union organizing campaign; president not charged
